Second Teen Charged in UK Shooting Death of Nigerian Boy

A second teenager has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old Nigerian boy in Woolwich, southeast London, United Kingdom.

Charges Filed

The 15-year-old suspect, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Wednesday, May 6, and subsequently charged in connection with the death of Eghosa Ogbebor. He appeared before Barkingside Youth Court on Thursday, May 7.

Investigation Details

An investigation was launched after police were called on Thursday, April 2, following reports of a shooting in Warwick Street. Eghosa was found with serious injuries and died at the scene.

Another teenager, aged 16 from Romford, was also charged with murder on Friday, April 10. He appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court on Saturday, April 11, where he was remanded in custody.

The Old Bailey previously heard that Eghosa was shot in the chest and was also armed.

Arrests and Bail

On Saturday, April 4, officers arrested a 19-year-old man in Woolwich on suspicion of murder. A 46-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Two boys, aged 14 and 16, and an 18-year-old man were arrested on Friday, April 3, in connection with Eghosa's death. They have also been bailed pending further inquiries.

The investigation remains ongoing. A six-week trial has been scheduled for January.
