Nigerian singer Shallipopi has resumed his public criticism of music executive Dapper Damm, escalating the ongoing dispute over money allegedly owed to former artistes. In a series of posts on X, Shallipopi challenged Dapper to meet him in person and resolve the matter, stating that he has presented evidence to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and wants the dispute settled through appropriate channels.
Shallipopi's Public Challenge
In one of his posts, Shallipopi wrote, "Dapper, come outside right now," directly calling out the music executive. He also declared, "I would rather d!e than allow this case to d!e down. Come out, let's talk face to face," emphasizing his determination to pursue the matter.
The singer alleged that nearly 10 artistes have now raised similar concerns about Dapper, suggesting a pattern of behavior. He accused Dapper of avoiding him since 2024, which has frustrated efforts to resolve the issue privately.
Previous Attempts at Resolution
Shallipopi further claimed that he had previously sought the intervention of Burna Boy, a prominent Nigerian artiste, alleging that Burna Boy contacted Dapper to help resolve the matter. This indicates that attempts at mediation have been made, but without success.
Expressing fatigue with the online back-and-forth, Shallipopi called on Dapper to face him and address the allegations directly. He wrote, "Once it's a mistake, two times is a coincidence, three times it's a pattern," suggesting that the recurring complaints from multiple artistes point to a systemic issue.
Impact and Next Steps
The dispute has drawn attention on social media, with Shallipopi's posts generating significant engagement. The singer's reference to the EFCC suggests that legal or regulatory bodies may become involved if the matter is not resolved. As of now, Dapper Damm has not publicly responded to Shallipopi's latest challenge, and the situation remains unresolved.
