Doris Ogala Vows to Become Abia Governor, Challenges Otti

Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has declared with absolute confidence that she will become the next governor of Abia State, describing her ambition as a divine mandate and insisting she is superior to all other contenders in the race.

Ogala made the declaration during an appearance on the Clarity Zone podcast hosted by Nedu Wazobia, with the episode aired on Instagram on August 17, 2026. When pressed on the basis of her certainty, Ogala responded, "I am so sure, and I know it, because I'm better than all of them."

A Divine Call to Lead Abia

Framing her political ambition in spiritual terms, Ogala told the host, "My call to come and save my people is a divine mandate. I will be the next governor of Abia State. Nothing is going to stop it." Her remarks have sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many users finding her assertions both bold and entertaining.

Ogala's confidence extends beyond her own candidacy; she used the platform to level direct criticism at the administration of Governor Alex Otti. Claiming to have spent three months living in Abia State, she said she experienced persistent power outages throughout her stay, stating, "I have been in Abia for 3 good months. No lights. I sleep in my family house. I don't have lights. I can tell you that this present government has done nothing. And I will tell you because I know."

Challenging Otti's Development Claims

When Nedu pointed out that Abia appeared to have seen improvements in roads and electricity, Ogala dismissed such narratives as public relations spin, asserting, "They've sold this thing to the public for the longest time." She also weighed in on the debate over development at Ariaria International Market, claiming that the A-Line section of the market was constructed under former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, not the current administration.

"I dare the governor Alex Otti to challenge me. He didn't build Ariaria," she said, adding that she was part of that earlier government. This challenge adds a new dimension to the political discourse in Abia State, as the 2027 gubernatorial race begins to take shape.

Public Reactions and Previous Criticism

The interview drew a wave of reactions online, with many social media users finding her performance amusing. Comments ranged from playful jabs to outright skepticism, with one user, @mizz_nyinye, writing, "So nobody can help us to pinch her mouth in that studio ??" Another, @grocerymatrixng, commented, "The girl on white just dey look am like sey, 'Isi odi kwa nwanyi a nma?' ?"

This is not the first time Ogala has taken aim at the Otti administration. Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Abia AAC governorship candidate strongly criticised the newly introduced ₦150 million campaign advertising permit. She accused Governor Alex Otti's administration of targeting her political ambitions and creating barriers for opposition candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. Ogala argued the policy was insensitive given widespread economic hardship, warning that parties may abandon billboard campaigns entirely if the directive remains.

As the political landscape in Abia State evolves, Ogala's outspoken stance and claims of divine mandate are likely to keep her in the spotlight, setting the stage for a contentious and closely watched electoral contest.
