Gurugram Student Hospitalized After Alleged Brutal Assault by Partner

A 19-year-old female student in Gurugram is currently hospitalized in critical condition after her live-in partner allegedly subjected her to a horrific assault, resulting in severe injuries including burns and stab wounds. The Gurugram Police have arrested the accused, also aged 19, following a rescue operation initiated by the victim's mother.

Details of the Alleged Captivity and Torture

The mother of the victim reported that her daughter was held captive in a room for three days, during which she was allegedly raped and brutally tortured. The victim managed to call her mother on the night of February 19, 2026, describing the ordeal and expressing fears for her life. "She told me that her friend Shivam had been torturing her for the past three days. She said that he would kill her that day. After that, I called the Badshahpur police station and they saved my daughter," the mother stated, sobbing inconsolably during an interview with a news agency on Sunday, February 22.

Police Response and Investigation

Upon receiving the call from the mother, a police team promptly rescued the young woman on February 19 and admitted her to a government hospital in Sector 10, Gurugram. The victim, who studies biotechnology at a prominent college in the city, informed authorities that she shared a room with the accused and that he had repeatedly assaulted her due to suspicions about her conduct.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim and the accused had met in September of the previous year, and their families had even discussed potential wedding plans. Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar confirmed on February 22 that the victim is under treatment and in stable condition. He added that all relevant legal sections, including rape charges, have been invoked based on the victim's complaint, with the possibility of additional charges pending medical opinions.

Legal Proceedings and Police Action

Mr. Kumar emphasized that the police have categorized this case as "Identified Crime," ensuring regular monitoring and witness presence to expedite the trial. "The police would seek maximum punishment for the accused in the case," he asserted. A video capturing the moment of the accused's arrest has circulated online, highlighting the swift police action in this disturbing incident.

The victim is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Delhi, where she remains under medical care as authorities continue their investigation into the full extent of the assault and the circumstances leading up to it.
