Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended a 43-year-old man, Idowu Ashafa, for unlawful possession of human body parts and suspected involvement in ritual activities in Igbesa. The arrest occurred on Friday, April 17, 2026, during a routine patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Solotan K. Owolabi.

Details of the Arrest and Evidence

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday, the suspect was intercepted while carrying a nylon bag containing a fresh human head, two human palms, and other human remains. Preliminary investigations revealed that Ashafa allegedly exhumed these remains from a grave at Ido Itekun Village in Igbesa, intending to use them for ritual purposes.

The police recovered the implement used in the act, visited the scene, and documented evidence as part of their investigation. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry to uncover more details and potential accomplices.
