Teenager Pleads Guilty to Attempted Murder in Bristol Axe Attack

Alina Burns, an 18-year-old woman, has formally pleaded guilty to attempted murder following a violent axe attack on Mohammed Mahmoodi, an Iranian stranger, in Bristol. The incident occurred outside a barber shop in August of last year, where Burns targeted Mahmoodi with the intent to cause fatal harm.

Narrow Escape and Disturbing Details

According to court proceedings, Mahmoodi miraculously avoided serious injury by dodging the axe swing, escaping completely unharmed. Police investigations revealed that Burns later admitted her sinister intent to officers, stating she attacked him because she "wanted to cut his neck." Upon her detention, authorities recovered additional weapons from her possession, including a scalpel and darts, indicating premeditation.

Links to Far-Right Extremism

Burns has been linked to Patriotic Alternative, a far-right organisation led by Mark Collett. During a search of her home, investigators uncovered extremist material that exposed a deeply violent ideology. In one email, she wrote, "Kill all Jews and Muslims in Britain, please," showcasing alarming hatred. Other writings included messages where she described herself as "the embodiment of hell, destined to annihilate everything holy," and references to Adolf Hitler.

Pre-Attack Planning and Radicalisation Concerns

Her online searches included queries about purchasing weapons, and shortly before the attack, she reportedly wrote, "Land is reclaimed through terror… Better if they flee out of fear." Burns admitted in court that she bought the axe specifically with the intention to kill the victim. Although she initially denied having a terrorist motive, this case has sparked significant concerns about the radicalisation of young individuals by extremist groups.

The trial remains ongoing as the court continues to examine the full circumstances surrounding this disturbing attack, highlighting broader issues of security and ideological violence in society.
