Caroline “Caro” Peña, a 32-year-old mother of five from Texas, posted a chilling video prayer on Facebook on June 11, saying, “May God protect me from what my eyes don’t see and what my ears don’t hear.” Days later, she was allegedly killed by two sisters and their friend in a broad daylight attack.
Attack and Arrest
On Thursday, June 13, Peña was confronted by 19-year-old Amaya Cookie Diaz, who allegedly stabbed her repeatedly in the back during a heated argument, according to Del Rio police. A photograph captured the attack. After Peña was stabbed, Cookie’s sister, Kitty Mia Diaz, 21, and their friend Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, allegedly beat her. Peña was rushed to a local hospital but later died from her stab wounds at a medical facility in San Antonio that night.
Charges and Bond
All three women face first-degree murder charges. They were arrested and, just two hours after the attack, Cookie and Kitty were seen smiling in police custody photos. During their first court appearance on Friday, a judge set a $5 million bond for each defendant. They all requested court-appointed attorneys and remain behind bars.
