A horrifying incident has occurred in the Agoti farm settlement in Idanre Local Council Area of Ondo State, where an 18-month-old toddler was gruesomely murdered, her body discovered with the head severed. The tragic event unfolded a few days ago when an unknown assailant allegedly stormed the farm settlement where the child lived with her parents, attacked the mother, and then abducted and beheaded the toddler.
Father Appeals for Justice
The father of the deceased, Bright Kalu, a peasant farmer originally from Abia State, has made a passionate appeal to the Ondo State Government, security agencies, and human rights organizations to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to justice. Kalu, who was working on another farmland some distance from the settlement at the time of the incident, recounted that the toddler had been left in the care of her mother at their farm camp alongside her three siblings.
The distraught father explained that upon returning from a nearby camp where he had gone to purchase food items, he met his wife in a distressed state. She informed him that an unidentified individual had invaded the camp and attacked her. According to Kalu, his wife managed to secure the safety of three of their children during the attack, but their youngest child could not be found.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that detectives had arrested a suspect in connection with the crime. He stated that investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing and determine whether other persons were involved. The case was initially reported at the Olofin Police Station in Idanre before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Akure for further investigation.
