Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued four kidnap victims who were abducted by bandits around the same time as late Maj. Gen. Rabe Abubakar (retd.) and his wife. The rescue operation was part of ongoing military efforts to track down and apprehend the notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani, and his criminal gang.
Statement from Katsina Government
A statement by Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasur Muazu, confirmed the rescue. He said the victims were rescued during sustained military operations in areas where the criminals are believed to be operating. Upon their rescue, medical personnel immediately attended to them for gunshot wounds sustained during their captivity.
Identities of Rescued Victims
Muazu identified the rescued victims as Musa Yakuba, 62; Alhaji Sa’adu Dayi, 68; Mukhtar Danja, 36, and Salisu Danja, 50. He noted that the wife of late Major General Rabe Abubakar was earlier rescued, and the rescued victims were previously seen in a photograph with the late Major General.
Government Commendation and Assurance
The Katsina State Government, under the leadership of Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, commended the bravery, professionalism, and commitment of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies involved in the operation. The government assured citizens that security forces remain on the trail of Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani and other criminal elements. Ongoing operations will continue until all those responsible for acts of terror against innocent citizens are brought to justice.
