The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe) has apprehended two individuals suspected of burgling a grocery shop in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Council Area of the state.
Arrest Details
The suspects, identified as Afolayan Sodiq and Muhammad Adamu, were taken into custody by operatives of the Iyesi Area Command during a routine patrol led by Area Commander ACC Samuel Yusuf. The Corps Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued by the Corps' Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adebisi, in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Interception of Stolen Goods
Ganzallo revealed that a tricycle belonging to Sodiq, loaded with various cartons of groceries and wine, was intercepted in the early hours of April 23, 2026. During interrogation, Sodiq claimed that an individual known as Mr. Lucky had requested his assistance in transporting some loads from the Royal City College/Monarch University area in Iyana Iyesi, and he agreed to help using his tricycle, commonly referred to as Keke.
Arrest of Second Suspect
To lure other suspects, the interrogating operatives instructed Sodiq to call Adamu and Mr. Lucky, pretending that everything was fine. This led to the arrest of Adamu, while Mr. Lucky became suspicious and failed to appear. Recovered items included cartons of wine, noodles, and groundnut oil, as well as a yellow motorcycle.
Transfer to Police
Ganzallo further explained that after interrogation, the suspects led operatives to the crime scene for assessment. Both suspects and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force Onipanu Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution.
