A masked vandal has caused extensive damage to a £250,000 Aston Martin convertible, smashing its windscreen and spray-painting the word 'CHEATER' in capital letters on the bonnet. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, May 26, at a golf club in Molesey, Surrey.
Police received reports of criminal damage and arrived at the scene within minutes. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect pull a hammer from his rucksack before shattering the windows and lights of the luxury vehicle. He also tore open the roof of the convertible before casually leaving the scene in a pair of shorts and strolling toward a local river.
The owner of the Aston Martin, who had been walking his two terrier dogs at the time, was interviewed by police. The vehicle, valued at approximately £250,000, was declared a 'write off' by authorities. Forensics teams have attended the scene to gather evidence.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a search of the area was conducted but the suspect was not located. A police spokesman stated: 'Police were called at around 2pm on Monday, May 25, to reports of criminal damage to a vehicle at a sports club in Dillon Close, Molesey. No arrests have been made, and enquiries continue.'
Investigations remain ongoing as police work to identify the masked vandal. The Aston Martin convertible is understood to be worth around £250,000 when purchased new.
