Twenty-two-year-old social media influencer and Chinese translator, Shalom Daisy Daniels, popularly known as “Witch of China,” has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command over allegations of cyberbullying, defamation, and orchestrating online attacks against vendors and their businesses.
Arrest and Investigation
The police stated that Daniels was arrested following complaints from several business owners who accused her of using her social media platforms to target vendors, damage their reputations, and encourage coordinated reporting of their business accounts. State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, ordered the case to be transferred from Langbasa Division, Eti-Osa, to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). The SCID Crime Unit, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Soledayo Akinbisehin, will handle further investigations.
Complaints from Vendors
A police source revealed that investigations began after multiple complaints from affected vendors, whose social media pages were allegedly taken down following coordinated online attacks. Among the complainants was Jennifer Ojubu, a businesswoman and importer, who alleged that her ordeal began after she defended another vendor who had been criticized by Daniels over the pricing of imported products.
According to Ojubu, Daniels subsequently targeted her business during a trip to China by comparing her product prices with those on Chinese e-commerce platforms and portraying her as dishonest. She alleged that Daniels encouraged people to join her importation group for a fee of N3,000, promising to obtain products at lower prices for them, while presenting vendors as exploitative. Ojubu further claimed that Daniels repeatedly referred to her online as a thief and used screenshots from her pre-order group to create content against her business.
Another complainant, Adeshina Adenike, Chief Executive Officer of Hofkluze, alleged that Daniels used her videos without permission, publicly described her as a thief, and shared her personal details online. Adenike further claimed that after asking Daniels to remove the videos, she was allegedly threatened that her brand would be destroyed.

The police source confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and that the suspect and her accomplices will be charged in court upon conclusion.
