Kidnapped Zamfara Teacher Killed Despite Ransom Payment
Zamfara Teacher Killed After Ransom Paid to Bandits

Terrorists have killed a kidnapped teacher from Zamfara State after collecting a ransom for his release. Mustapha Yahaya Maru, a teacher at Federal Government College, Anka, was abducted in early May while traveling to Anka alongside several other passengers. Their vehicle was intercepted by armed bandits.

Ransom Payment and Murder

Following the abduction, the kidnappers contacted Maru's family and demanded a ransom that was far beyond their financial capacity. After intense efforts and negotiations, the family managed to raise and pay the agreed amount in hopes of securing his freedom. Tragically, the bandits killed Maru on Tuesday instead of releasing him.

Community in Mourning

Maru's death has thrown his family and the entire Maru community into mourning. It has further heightened concerns over the worsening insecurity in the region. The incident underscores the brutal nature of banditry in Zamfara State, where victims are often killed even after ransoms are paid.
