Joint Security Operation in Plateau Nabs 59 Drug Suspects
Troops from Sector 1 of Operation Enduring Peace, working alongside the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilante groups, have apprehended 59 individuals suspected of being drug peddlers during a targeted raid in Plateau State.
The operation took place around 12:15 p.m. on June 12, 2026, in the Congo-Russia area of Jos North Local Government Area. It was launched following intelligence reports indicating suspected drug-related activities in the vicinity.
According to sources, the joint security team moved swiftly into the hideout and managed to detain the suspects without encountering any resistance.
In addition to the arrests, the operation resulted in the recovery of various illicit drugs and other items believed to be linked to drug trafficking and distribution networks.
The suspects are currently being held in custody by security operatives, where they will undergo further investigation before any subsequent legal action is taken.
Authorities have stated that this raid is part of an ongoing campaign to curb drug abuse and related criminal activities within Jos metropolis and its surrounding areas.
They reiterated their commitment to conducting sustained, intelligence-led operations aimed at restoring law and order across Plateau State.
