The incident occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m., sending billows of smoke and flames into the air. Kuwhede Vincent, a student of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH) whose hostel is near the zone, recounted the terrifying moments. "We first saw smoke and then fire coming from the company," Vincent said. "We just grabbed our bags because we did not know what could happen next." He praised the prompt response of the fire service, whose efforts were crucial in containing the blaze and preventing it from spreading to nearby student hostels in the Obanla area.
Official Statements and Safety Advisory
The Ogun State Police Command, through its spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that the fire had been contained and that police operatives were deployed to the scene to maintain security. The public was urged to stay calm and avoid the vicinity. Meanwhile, the President of the OGITECH Students' Union, Ilo Fadilu Temitope, issued a statement signed by the Secretary, Moses Josephine, and PRO, Segbetin Sunday, advising students to observe strict safety precautions.
