The Taraba State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, commonly known as NAPTIP, has successfully intercepted a suspected human trafficker and rescued ten minors in a targeted operation in Jalingo. This significant development was disclosed by the State Commandant, Mr. Bako Amos, in an official statement released to journalists over the weekend.

Actionable Intelligence Leads to Arrest

According to Mr. Amos, the arrest was made possible due to actionable intelligence received by the agency, highlighting NAPTIP's proactive approach in combating human trafficking. The interception occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Kurmi Park in Jalingo, a key location in the state.

Collaborative Efforts with State Officials

The operation was conducted in close collaboration with Mrs. Sarah Ishaya, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Taraba State on Human Trafficking. This partnership underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing such critical security issues. Mr. Amos emphasized that the suspect was apprehended while making preparations to traffic the ten children to an unknown destination, preventing a potential tragedy.

Ongoing Investigations and Custody

Both the victims and the suspect are currently in NAPTIP's custody, where they are receiving necessary care and attention. Investigations are actively ongoing to unravel the full circumstances surrounding this trafficking attempt, including the intended destination and any possible accomplices.
