Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has voiced significant concern regarding a recent attempt by suspected individuals to bomb government infrastructures and facilities within the state. Describing the development as deeply troubling, the governor specifically decried the involvement of some indigenes of Ondo in the purported plot, questioning their motives and loyalty to the state.

Last week, the Ondo State Police Command arrested six suspects in connection with the planned bombings, which were primarily targeted at facilities in Akure metropolis. Security agencies recovered materials intended for the operation and sealed off the suspects' operational base. According to Governor Aiyedatiwa, the plot involved a collaboration between three indigenes of Ondo State and three individuals from other states, all of whom are now in custody.
The governor expressed his dismay, stating, "Some people just woke up and said they want to bomb us. For what reason? What have we done? How can citizens of Ondo State be joining outsiders to want to bomb Ondo State? For what reason? The six individuals, they are in custody now—three from our state and three from other states—conniving together to carry out that operation. We arrested them, and all the materials that they want to use. They were arrested and they are in our custody right now. They will not succeed."

In response to the incident, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured residents that efforts are being intensified to tackle security challenges headlong. He emphasized that while no nation is entirely free of crime, the effectiveness of security responses is crucial. "We are gathering intelligence every now and then. We are having our people working with us. When you see something, say something. We are foiling a lot of operations that have been planned by these criminals. Some of the things we do, we don't want to send them out so that you don't get scared," Aiyedatiwa explained, underscoring the proactive measures in place to prevent such attacks.
