Bandits Launch Deadly Night Raid on Sokoto Village

Armed bandits, identified as loyalists to the notorious kingpin Bello Turji, launched a brutal attack on the community of Bargaja in the Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The assault occurred on the night of Friday, November 7, 2025, leaving a trail of death and anguish.

Details of the Violent Assault

The attackers stormed the village, killing five people and leaving one individual seriously injured. In a deeply troubling development, the bandits also abducted at least ten residents. According to journalist Bakatsine, who confirmed the incident, the majority of those taken are young women.

This violent raid underscores the persistent and severe threat posed by bandit groups across northwestern Nigeria. Communities in this region frequently experience such raids with little to no warning and often feel a lack of adequate protection from security forces.

Community Pleads for Action

In the wake of this tragedy, residents of Bargaja and the surrounding areas are calling on the authorities for immediate and decisive action. There is a growing demand for intensified security patrols in vulnerable communities to prevent future attacks. Furthermore, there is an urgent plea for authorities to launch and expedite rescue efforts to secure the safe return of the nine abducted young women and the other victim.
