Bandits have abducted and killed a woman in Kaduna State, and are now demanding an additional ransom to release her body for burial. Comrade Murtala Ibrahim Xray, the victim's brother, disclosed the tragic incident in a Facebook post on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
Abduction and ransom demand
According to Murtala, the bandits kidnapped his younger sister, Shafa'atu Ibrahim, in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State. They initially demanded a ransom of N10 million for her release. While family members were negotiating with the kidnappers, they received a phone call informing them that Shafa'atu had been killed.
Additional demand for body release
Murtala stated that after killing his sister, the bandits demanded an additional N2 million before they would release her body to the family for burial. The family is now faced with the painful task of raising the extra funds to secure her remains.
The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Kaduna State, where banditry and kidnapping remain rampant. The state government has been urged to take more decisive action to protect citizens and bring perpetrators to justice.
