The lawmaker representing Oriire State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Johnson Ogundele, has assured families of the abducted teachers, pupils and other residents in Oriire Local Government Area that efforts are ongoing to secure their safe release. Ogundele gave the assurance while speaking with journalists shortly after raising a Matter of Urgent Public Importance on the floor of the Assembly during plenary. He disclosed that security agencies, community leaders and other critical stakeholders were intensifying efforts to ensure the victims regain their freedom unharmed.
Government and Security Agencies Respond
According to the lawmaker, the incident has drawn the attention of the Oyo State Government and relevant security authorities, who are working round the clock to secure the release of the abductees and apprehend those responsible for the crime. “I want to assure the families of the victims and the entire people of Oriire Local Government that nobody has been abandoned. Discussions are ongoing and security agencies are working tirelessly to secure the release of the abductees. We remain hopeful that they will return safely to their loved ones,” he said.
Call for Calm and Cooperation
Ogundele noted that the abduction had generated widespread concern within the constituency and across the state, stressing that the protection of lives and property remains a fundamental responsibility of government. He appealed to residents of the affected communities to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist ongoing investigations and rescue operations. The lawmaker acknowledged the anxiety and emotional trauma being experienced by the families of the victims but maintained that every necessary step was being taken to ensure a safe and successful outcome.
He added that authorities were handling the situation with utmost caution and responsibility to safeguard the lives of those in captivity. Ogundele expressed optimism that the ongoing efforts would yield positive results and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies as they work towards securing the victims’ release.
