Popular Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, known professionally as Falz, has launched another scathing criticism against the government, this time questioning the circumstances surrounding the release of recent kidnapping victims without any arrests being made.
Questioning the Official Narrative
The outspoken artist reacted to President Bola Tinubu's announcement that all 38 church members kidnapped in Kwara State had been freed, along with 50 out of the more than 300 victims abducted in Niger State. However, Falz pointed out several concerning gaps in the official account.
According to the musician, the situation doesn't add up because there have been no arrests made, no suspects identified, no explanations provided, and no accountability demonstrated by security agencies regarding these high-profile kidnapping cases.
Moving Beyond Social Media Activism
Falz expressed his frustration with what he described as the "one tweet here, one hashtag there" routine that has become common practice among Nigerians responding to security challenges. He insisted that citizens need to move beyond social media outrage and take more concrete actions.
The rapper revealed that some concerned Nigerians have already contacted him about organizing peaceful protests, which he fully supports. However, he emphasized the need for immediate action even before such demonstrations take place.
Call for Direct Citizen Action
Falz proposed a specific course of action for every Nigerian citizen. He urged people to call, text, WhatsApp, and email their senators and representatives with one unified message demanding accountability and transparency in security matters.
Among his key demands is a public hearing broadcast live nationwide where government officials would be compelled to explain why billions of naira budgeted for security continue to disappear while soldiers remain underequipped and criminals continue to ambush military convoys with impunity.
The activist also raised questions about the murder of a serving general that was captured on video, noting that there have been zero consequences for this brazen act. His criticism comes amid growing public concern about the security situation in various parts of Nigeria, particularly regarding kidnapping incidents that have affected both rural and urban communities.
