Federal Civil Servants Abducted en Route to Promotion Exam
The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, OHCSF, has issued a strong condemnation following the abduction of several Federal Civil Servants along the Kabba axis in Kogi State. The incident, which occurred as the officials were traveling to Abuja, has been described as deeply distressing by the government.
Journey to Promotion Test Interrupted by Kidnappers
The victims were reportedly on their official trip to the nation's capital to participate in the ongoing Computer-Based Test, CBT, promotion examinations. These crucial exams are organized by the Federal Civil Service Commission and are a key step for career advancement within the federal bureaucracy. Their journey was violently interrupted by kidnappers, leaving colleagues and family in a state of anguish.
Head of Service Expresses Solidarity and Confidence in Rescue
In a statement released in Abuja, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, expressed her heartfelt concern and unwavering solidarity with the abducted officers, their families, and their colleagues across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs.
Mrs. Walson-Jack stated that the entire Federal Civil Service remains united in prayer and holds onto optimism for the victims' swift and safe return. She further expressed strong confidence in the capability of the nation's security agencies to ensure the prompt rescue of the kidnapped staff members.
"We stand together as one Civil Service family, united in faith, hope, and solidarity, praying earnestly for the safe return of our colleagues. Their safety and well-being remain our utmost priority," the Head of Service affirmed.
The statement, which was signed by Eno Olotu, FCAI, mnipr, Director of Information and Public Relations at the OHCSF, also included an appeal for calm and vigilance among all civil servants and the general public. It concluded by reaffirming the Federal Civil Service's unwavering commitment to the welfare and safety of its entire workforce and assured that the Service would continue to support all efforts aimed at securing the safe release of the abducted officers.
