Retired Major General Abubakar Rabe and his wife, Hajiya Amina Abubakar, who were abducted last week along the Karaduwa–Matazu Road in Katsina State, have issued a desperate plea for government assistance in a video released by their captors. The footage shows the couple standing together as the wife relays the demands of the terrorists.
Details of the Demands
In the video, the wife of the retired army general stated that the abductors are demanding the release of three of their members identified as Sani, Aminu, and Nasiru. Additionally, they are calling for the return of livestock that they claim were seized from them. She explained that two of these individuals were arrested in Jikamshi, while the third was taken into custody in Kano.
The general's wife appealed directly to the Katsina State Government and the leaders of five local government areas to grant the terrorists' demands in order to secure their release.
General's Call for Peace
The retired major general, who spoke briefly in the video, urged efforts to ensure peace and noted that the abductors have expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue and pursue peaceful coexistence. He emphasized the need for a resolution that would guarantee their safe return.
The abduction occurred on Saturday, May 30, when the couple, along with their driver Abdullahi Sa’idu, were traveling to Katsina. Their vehicle was ambushed along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli road in Matazu Local Government Area.
The video, shared on social media, has drawn widespread attention and renewed concerns about the security situation in the region.
