Kidnapped Kebbi Lawmaker Returns Home Safely
The Deputy Speaker of Kebbi State House of Assembly, Honourable Muhammad Sama'ila Bagudo, has been released from captivity after being abducted by armed gunmen. The 60-year-old lawmaker was kidnapped from his hometown in Bagudo Local Government Area on Thursday, October 31, shortly after completing his evening prayers at the mosque.
The Abduction Incident
According to eyewitness accounts, armed men stormed the town and seized the deputy speaker as he was returning home from religious observances. The assailants immediately transported him to an unknown location, sparking widespread concern across the state.
The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the successful rescue operation in an official statement released on Sunday, November 9. Police spokesperson CSP Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi announced that Bagudo had been reunited with his family after receiving necessary medical treatment at a healthcare facility.

In the official statement, the police command praised the courage and dedication of the combined security team deployed for the search and rescue mission. CSP Kotarkoshi emphasized the crucial role played by Kebbi State residents who provided vital intelligence that contributed to the lawmaker's safe return.
The police statement read: "The Kebbi State Police Command is using this medium to commend the courage, resilience and bravery of the combined team of security personnel deployed for search and rescue operations during the unfortunate incident, as well as appreciated the good people of Kebbi State, who provided the Command with vital and accurate information which has been utilized to ensuring the safe return of the Honourable member."
