The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) has sounded a critical alarm about the worsening security situation across Nigeria, highlighting a disturbing surge in violent attacks that have left numerous citizens dead and many others abducted.
Wave of Violent Attacks Across Multiple States
In an urgent statement released on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, MPAC's Executive Chairman, Mr. Disu Kamor, detailed several devastating incidents that have occurred within just one week. The organization called on the government to implement immediate and decisive measures to safeguard Nigerian citizens from the growing threat of violence.
The recent attacks documented by MPAC include the tragic killing of a Nigerian Army Brigadier-General by ISWAP insurgents in the North-East region. In a separate incident in Kebbi State, armed assailants abducted 25 schoolgirls from a secondary school, murdering the Vice Principal who courageously attempted to protect the students during the attack.
Religious institutions have also become targets, with MPAC reporting an assault on a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State. This attack resulted in the death of several worshippers and the abduction of multiple congregants.
Communal Violence and Political Targeting
Other concerning incidents highlighted by the organization include the murder of an APC chieftain and the kidnapping of his family members by armed attackers. Communities in Patigi, Kwara State, also experienced violent assaults that claimed the lives of a police officer and a vigilante member, while two traditional chiefs were taken hostage.
MPAC also drew attention to earlier security breaches in Zamfara State, where bandits abducted 30 villagers from Zamfarawa in Zugu District, Bukkuyum Local Government Area on October 7, 2025. Just eleven days later on October 18, an additional 73 people were kidnapped from Buzugu and Rayau villages within the same region.
The organization revealed that more than 145 people have disappeared in Zamfara State in recent days, including students and religious worshippers caught in the escalating violence.
MPAC's Strong Condemnation and Demands
MPAC expressed grave concern that criminals and terrorists are operating with increasing boldness, targeting educational institutions, places of worship, residential communities, and even high-ranking military personnel without fear of consequences.
The organization strongly condemned these attacks, emphasizing that each life lost represents a shattered family, a destabilized community, and a traumatized nation. MPAC stressed that citizen protection must never be treated as negotiable and should remain the highest priority for government at all levels.
At this critical juncture, MPAC stated that Nigeria requires leadership characterized by proactivity, transparency, and unwavering commitment to public safety.
Comprehensive Security Recommendations
To address the deteriorating security situation, MPAC presented several urgent recommendations to the federal government and relevant security agencies:
Rescue and protection efforts must be intensified for all abducted victims, with enhanced security measures implemented for schools and worship centers nationwide.
The military should receive strengthened intelligence capabilities and operational resources to prevent unnecessary exposure of personnel to danger.
MPAC also advocated for the formal recognition of key traditional rulers as security partners and the integration of civilian vigilante groups and forest guards into the national security framework.
The organization emphasized the importance of transparent communication with citizens to rebuild trust and demonstrate that every Nigerian life is valued and protected.
MPAC issued a stern warning that continued attacks on citizens constitute an intolerable assault on Nigeria's unity, stability, and future prospects, potentially emboldening those seeking to harm the nation.
