A Nigerian man has sparked widespread online discussion after confessing a heavy secret he has been keeping from his parents regarding his plans to relocate to Canada. The man, known on X as @Jay_benks44, revealed that his parents constantly hold prayer sessions for his move to Canada, unaware that he has been banned from entering the country.
Emotional Burden of Hidden Truth
In his post, @Jay_benks44 described the emotional weight he carries every time his parents pray for him over the phone. He wrote: "Every time my parent prayed for me over the phone, they always says 'by this time next year you'll be in Canada' meanwhile I don't know how to tell them I'm currently on 5 years visa ban from Canada."
The young man also explained that the ban resulted from actions taken by a travel agency without his knowledge. He stated: "The travel agency went to use fake documents to submit my application." This revelation has left many social media users questioning the integrity of travel agencies and the importance of transparency in such processes.
Mixed Reactions Online
The post generated a variety of responses from netizens. Some advised him to come clean with his parents, while others held out hope for a miracle. User @mayowafalowo commented: "Anything can still happen sha. Miracle no dey tire Jesus." Another user, @BelovedDauta, suggested: "You need to tell them so they will change their prayer point." Meanwhile, @ymg_series urged: "I think you should sit them down and tell them the truth."
The story also drew comparisons to similar cases of Nigerians facing immigration challenges abroad. Previously, a Nigerian lady with a master's degree living overseas had opened up about her financial struggles and risk of deportation, highlighting the difficulties many Nigerians encounter in their quest for a better life abroad.
This incident underscores the need for careful vetting of travel agencies and open communication between family members, especially when dealing with life-changing decisions like relocation.
