Notorious Child Kidnapper Arrested in Niger State

The Niger State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough with the arrest of a suspected serial child kidnapper, bringing relief to families in Kontagora and its environs.

Arrest and Initial Investigation

According to the command's spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, the suspect, identified as Aminu Ahmed, was apprehended on November 27, 2025, around 7:00 PM. The arrest was executed by operatives from the Force Intelligence Department (FID) and the Special Tactical Squad (STS) based on technical intelligence regarding child abductions in the area.

Chilling Confessions of a Serial Kidnapper

During interrogation, Ahmed provided disturbing details of his alleged crimes spanning most of the year 2025. His confessions revealed a pattern of targeting young children, transporting them across state lines, and demanding hefty ransoms from their distressed families.

He stated that in January 2025, he abducted a three-year-old boy around the Samaru area of Kontagora. He held the child for four days and traveled with him to Lagos. From there, he contacted the victim's father, demanding a ten million naira ransom. He eventually received N1.4 million, which was sent to various POS points. Ahmed then returned the boy to a location near a radio station in Kontagora, presenting him as a missing and found child before fleeing the scene.

A Pattern of Crime and Deceit

The suspect's alleged criminal activities continued unabated. In May 2025, he abducted a four-year-old boy within Kontagora, again taking him to Lagos for a three-day period. He contacted the family, demanding another ten million naira, but this time received five hundred thousand naira. He later dropped the child in the Mashegu Local Government Area and informed the parents of the location.

His third confessed abduction occurred in November 2025. He picked up a three-year-old boy from the GRA area of Kontagora and took him to Ilorin, Kwara State, where they stayed for three days. He contacted the father, requesting five million naira and ultimately receiving three hundred and fifty thousand naira. The victim was later dropped in Kaboji, within Mashegu LGA.

In a surprising twist, Ahmed claimed that he was defrauded of over N1.8 million of his illicit gains during a failed mining investment business venture.

Ongoing Process and Public Assurance

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further investigation. This arrest highlights the command's commitment to leveraging intelligence and tactical operations to combat crimes against vulnerable children. The police urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, assuring residents of their dedication to maintaining safety and security across the state.
