The Oyo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, along with her twin children. The victims were taken on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, during a morning school run in Ibadan.
Police Response and Recovery
Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed that all necessary resources have been deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the arrest of the perpetrators. The command recovered the victim's vehicle from the scene and is conducting intensive investigations.
Adelabu's media aide, Femi Awogboro, identified the abducted sister as Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, aged 43, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul. The incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. while she was dropping her children at school.
Ongoing Investigations
The Commissioner of Police directed the Divisional Police Officer of Challenge Division and other tactical teams to proceed to the scene. Ayanlade urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, and to provide any useful information to assist the investigations.
In a related development, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) warned against labeling kidnappers as Islamic jihadists, following comments by an Ibadan-based broadcaster. Governor Seyi Makinde also provided updates on security efforts after the mass abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State, emphasizing federal-state collaboration for safe rescues.
