Swift Police Action Thwarts Bandit Attack in Zamfara

In a decisive operation, the Zamfara State Police Command has successfully rescued twenty-five individuals who were abducted by armed bandits. The victims, comprising 10 women and 15 children, were saved in Kuraje village, located in the Damba area of Gusau Local Government.

Details of the Attack and Rescue

The incident began on the evening of Friday, November 21, 2025. A large group of bandits, armed with dangerous weapons, stormed Kuraje village. They fired shots sporadically, creating panic before seizing the women and their children from the community.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, a distress call was immediately received. This triggered a rapid response from a joint team. The force included police patrol units from the Damba Division and the Department of Operations in Gusau, working hand-in-hand with the state's Community Protection Guards (CPG).

The operatives mobilized swiftly to the scene, confirmed the attack, and pursued the fleeing kidnappers. Through a coordinated and strategic engagement, the security forces managed to intercept the bandits.

Successful Outcome and Official Commendation

The operation was a complete success thanks to the professionalism and gallantry of the officers. All 25 abducted victims were rescued unhurt. For their safety and proper profiling, they were immediately relocated to Sabongari Damba. We are pleased to report that the rescued women and children have since been reunited with their families.

The state's Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, praised the bravery displayed by the officers involved. He further reassured the public of the command's unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of all residents across Zamfara State.
