The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has successfully rescued five kidnapped victims and neutralized two suspected bandits in a joint operation conducted in the Byazhin area on Tuesday, June 9.

Operation Details

According to a statement by the command's spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, personally led the clearance operation following recent kidnapping incidents in the Paze community. The team comprised operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the NPF Intelligence Response Team (IRT), and Kubwa Area Command, working alongside local hunters and vigilante groups.

Engagement and Rescue

The joint security team launched an intensive search and rescue operation across Paze and Byazhin communities. During the operation, they engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun duel, resulting in the death of two suspects and the arrest of two others identified as Icheh Mohammadu and Abubakar Usman. Other gang members fled into nearby hills with bullet wounds. Five kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed.

Recovered Items

The police recovered two AK-47 rifles with magazines from the suspects. The command urged healthcare practitioners, hospitals, and the public to report anyone seeking treatment for gunshot injuries under suspicious circumstances.

Search operations continue across the general area and adjoining communities to apprehend fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network.
