Gunmen have abducted a nine-year-old boy, Victor Olaosebikan, during a home invasion in Igbosi Community, Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State. The attack occurred in the early hours of Friday, June 5, when armed men arrived, firing gunshots and causing widespread panic.

The assailants forcefully entered the residence of Mr. Olaosebikan Isaac, a pastor in the community. In the chaos, Isaac fled into the surrounding bush, leaving behind his son, Victor, who was subsequently taken by the attackers.

Another resident, Mr. Joel Owalekan, reported that the gunmen vandalised his home while trying to break in. He also managed to escape unharmed by fleeing the area.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo State, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, stated that the matter was reported to the police at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Friday. Jimoh said security operatives immediately responded to the distress call.

“Upon receipt of the distress report, the Divisional Police Officer and his men, in collaboration with the Amotekun Corps, immediately mobilised to the scene and launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation,” Jimoh said. “Security operatives combed the surrounding forests and likely escape routes in a bid to rescue the abducted child and apprehend the perpetrators.”

The police spokesman added that investigations have begun, with relevant exhibits recovered and documented to help uncover the circumstances of the attack and track down those responsible. He appealed to the public to report any credible information about the whereabouts of the abducted child or the suspects to the nearest police station or any security agency.
