Federal Government Launches Full-Scale Rescue Operation
The Federal Government has initiated an urgent rescue mission following the abduction of female students from Government Girls Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State. The attack, which occurred in the early hours, also resulted in the tragic killing of school officials.
In an official statement released by Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, the government strongly condemned the violent incident and assured Nigerians that comprehensive security measures are being implemented to secure the safe return of the abducted students.
President Tinubu's Directives to Security Agencies
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued clear and immediate instructions to all security and intelligence agencies to track down the assailants and rescue the kidnapped schoolgirls. The President emphasized that protecting citizens, particularly students, remains a fundamental responsibility of the government.
Security and intelligence agencies have received urgent directives to locate the attackers, safely rescue the abducted girls, and ensure the perpetrators face full legal consequences, Minister Idris confirmed during the press briefing.
The Minister further stated: "Our security and intelligence agencies have been issued clear directives to locate, rescue, and safely return the students, and to ensure that the perpetrators face justice. The Federal Government will not relent until this objective is achieved."
Strengthening National Security Infrastructure
The Federal Government highlighted that internal security remains one of its highest priorities, with ongoing efforts to enhance military, policing, and intelligence operations. These improvements aim to respond more effectively to emerging security threats across the nation.
The government is currently recalibrating the nation's military, policing, and intelligence capabilities to prevent future attacks and respond with greater speed and precision whenever security threats emerge, the Minister elaborated.
Additionally, Nigeria has intensified collaboration with regional security partners, including ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), to secure border areas and disrupt terrorist networks operating across West Africa.
