Army Chief Urges Discipline Among Newly Elevated Soldiers

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, has delivered a strong charge to recently promoted soldiers, emphasizing the critical importance of maintaining exceptional standards of discipline, hard work, and dedication in their expanded roles.

Ceremony Highlights and Promotion Details

The significant event took place on November 18, 2025, at the Division's Headquarters Complex located on Victoria Island, Lagos. During the decoration ceremony, several soldiers received their new ranks in recognition of their service and commitment.

Staff Sergeant Babagana Abacha and Staff Sergeant Kassim Musediku were honored with promotions to the rank of Warrant Officers. The ceremony also saw six Sergeants elevated to Staff Sergeant positions, four Corporals advancing to Sergeant, and three Lance Corporals receiving their Corporal stripes.

Leadership Commendations and Family Appreciation

Major General Mijinyawa extended his congratulations to the soldiers for their well-earned promotions while praising their demonstrated discipline, commitment, and professional conduct throughout their careers. He emphasized that their collective dedication had been instrumental in helping the Division achieve the Command Philosophy established by the Chief of Army Staff for the year.

The GOC specifically highlighted the vital role of clerks within the Army structure, urging those among the promoted soldiers in administrative positions to maintain their diligence, as their contributions remain essential to the Division's operational efficiency.
