Major Victory for Nigerian Forces in Borno State

The Nigerian Army has scored a significant triumph in its ongoing battle against terrorism, successfully liberating 86 kidnapped victims during a coordinated military operation in Borno State. The successful mission, which took place on November 9, 2025, represents one of the most substantial rescue operations in recent months.

Dramatic Rescue Along Buratai-Kamuya Road

According to official statements from Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer, troops from the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2 of Operation Hadin Kai engaged Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists at Dutse Kura along the critical Buratai–Kamuya Road. The confrontation led to terrorists abandoning their positions in disarray, leaving behind both their captives and valuable supplies.

The swift military response prevented what could have been another tragic chapter in the region's security challenges. Upon realizing that terrorists were actively abducting civilians and seizing vehicles, the troops immediately intervened, successfully thwarting the attack and pursuing the insurgents toward Mangari.

Significant Recoveries and Additional Arrests

The military operation yielded substantial results beyond the rescue mission. Among the items recovered from the scene were:

  • One AK-47 rifle with five magazines containing 73 rounds of ammunition
  • Four PKT ammunition belts
  • Five civilian vehicles and five motorcycles
  • Eight bicycles and two logistics tricycles

In a related development that same day, troops deployed at Mangada intercepted and arrested 29 terrorist logistics suppliers who were transporting support materials to Chilaria. The confiscated supplies included over 1,000 liters of petrol, engine oil, gun truck tires, medical consumables, and various foodstuffs transported in two pickup vans and a tricycle.

The terrorist camp was completely destroyed following clearance operations, dealing a significant blow to the insurgents' operational capabilities in the area.

Military Leadership Commends Troops

Perhaps most notably, the Army confirmed that no casualties were recorded among the troops during the complex operation. The Military High Command praised the soldiers for their bravery, professionalism, and operational success, urging them to maintain their momentum in denying terrorists freedom of action across the North East region.

The gallantry and professionalism displayed by the troops reflect the renewed determination to eliminate all threats to peace and security in the region, the official statement emphasized.

This successful operation forms part of broader nationwide offensives that have seen Nigerian security forces neutralize seven terrorists and arrest 27 suspects across multiple theaters of operation within a 48-hour period, demonstrating the military's expanding effectiveness in counter-terrorism efforts.
