IGP Orders Massive Police Deployment to Plateau, Demands Arrest of Killers
Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has ordered a massive deployment of police personnel to Plateau State, a region plagued by recent violent attacks, with a clear directive to restore peace and order. The IGP has also strongly condemned the brutal assaults in the Angwan Rukuba community within Jos North Local Government Area, which resulted in the tragic loss of innocent lives.
Security Measures and Operational Directives
Contained in the IGP's urgent directive is the massive deployment of security assets aimed at apprehending those responsible for the killings. In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the IGP expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, the broader populace of the state, and particularly the affected families and residents of the Angwan Rukuba community over this unfortunate incident.
"In response to the situation, IGP Disu had earlier deployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, to Plateau State to assess the security situation, coordinate ongoing operations, and strengthen the existing security architecture," the statement detailed.
Intensified Operations and Community Engagement
The Inspector-General of Police has further intensified security operations through the deployment of additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives, working in conjunction with other security agencies. This coordinated effort is designed to tackle the ongoing security challenges and forestall any further breakdown of law and order across the state.
"The Inspector General of Police states that these actions will continue until normal conditions return," the statement emphasized. "He has instructed all operational commanders to ensure visible policing and actively engage with vulnerable communities."
Public Appeal for Calm and Vigilance
The IGP has called on members of the public to remain calm and vigilant, cooperate fully with security agencies, and refrain from taking the law into their own hands. "He further urges citizens to promptly report any incidents or suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities to support ongoing operations," the statement concluded, underscoring the importance of community collaboration in restoring safety and stability to Plateau State.
