Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully rescued Lance Corporal Basiru Labbo, a soldier who was abducted along the Zuru–Anka highway on July 22, 2026, along with a civilian, Lauwali Dan Ada. The operation, conducted by the Joint Task Force North-West, highlights ongoing efforts to clear terrorist strongholds in the region.
Rescue Operation Details
Lt. Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force North-West OPFY, confirmed the rescue in a statement issued on Wednesday, July 29. According to the statement, the victims were freed during an offensive fighting patrol targeting terrorist hideouts. A sustained tactical sweep enabled forces to extract both individuals safely from the enclave.
Post-Rescue Care
After the rescue, Lance Corporal Labbo and Lauwali Dan Ada were immediately evacuated to a military health facility. There, they are undergoing medical evaluation and administrative procedures to ensure their well-being and reintegration.
