The Nigerian Air Force has demonstrated its formidable capabilities by executing a series of devastating airstrikes against terrorist and bandit strongholds across three northern states. The precision operations, carried out on November 9, 2025, mark a significant escalation in the ongoing battle to restore security in the region.
Precision Strikes Neutralize ISWAP in Borno
In Borno State, the air component of Operation HADIN KAI focused its firepower on positions held by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP). Acting on real-time intelligence, fighter jets targeted insurgents entrenched in the Northern Tumbuns, specifically around the areas of Shuwaram and Mallam Fatori along the Lake Chad Basin.
The aerial assault was highly effective, resulting in the destruction of multiple terrorist hideouts. The strikes also successfully obliterated weapons caches and key logistics facilities, severely hampering the group's ability to operate. According to a statement from Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Director of Public Relations for the Nigerian Air Force, the operations neutralised several ISWAP terrorists and critically disrupted their mobility and command structures.
Bandit Camps Obliterated in Kwara and Katsina
The offensive extended beyond the northeast, with NAF aircraft delivering decisive blows to bandit camps in Kwara and Katsina States. In Kwara State, the hideouts located in Garin Dandi and Chigogo were struck, inflicting substantial losses on the criminal elements operating there.
Simultaneously, in Katsina State, air assets targeted Zango Hill, a known terrorist stronghold. The precision strikes at this location neutralised militants and destroyed critical infrastructure used by the groups. Air Commodore Ejodame emphasized that these actions reflect the Air Force's unwavering commitment to protecting citizens and degrading the networks of terrorists and criminals across northern Nigeria.
Reconnaissance and Future Commitment
Beyond the kinetic strikes, the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA conducted proactive armed reconnaissance missions across several northwestern states, including Zamfara, Kebbi, and Kaduna. These missions focused on monitoring key routes and settlements such as Kakihum, Dankolo, Kotonkoro, and Kuyello, which are frequently used by armed groups. Any suspicious movements detected were swiftly engaged, successfully preventing potential attacks on vulnerable communities.
The Nigerian Air Force has stated that these coordinated operations underscore a renewed focus on intelligence-driven precision airpower, following the directives of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke.
