Enhanced Security Measures for Abuja Worship Centers

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has significantly boosted security operations around churches and border communities in Abuja. This strategic move aims to combat criminal activities and ensure public safety throughout the dangerous ember months period.

Commissioner of Police Miller G. Dantawaye personally authorized this coordinated security initiative, which involves comprehensive church patrol operations across forested regions and boundary settlements within the capital territory.

Multi-Agency Security Collaboration

According to an official statement released by Police Spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh on November 9, the operation brings together multiple security forces. The joint team includes personnel from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Department of State Services (DSS) operatives, local hunters, and community vigilante groups.

The security coverage extends across critical transportation routes connecting Bwari to Kaduna State, Bwari to Niger State, and Gwagwalada to Niger State. This comprehensive approach aims to seal potential escape routes and prevent criminal movements across state boundaries.

The extensive patrol operations conducted from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. were designed to achieve multiple objectives: boosting resident confidence, discouraging criminal elements, and reassuring worshippers of their safety during religious activities.

Community Engagement and Safety Guidelines

During the security operations, church leaders received detailed briefings and safety recommendations. Security officials encouraged religious institutions to implement precautionary measures, including avoiding late-night gatherings, maintaining open communication with security operatives, and promptly reporting any suspicious activities.

CP Dantawaye has taken additional measures by ordering the closure of routes identified as escape corridors for criminal gangs operating around border areas. Security posts within forested regions remain operational under close supervision to prevent criminal infiltration.

The police command emphasized that safety remains a shared responsibility, urging residents to maintain vigilance and support security operations by providing timely information. Citizens were reminded that collective responsibility is essential for sustaining peace and security in the Federal Capital Territory.

Commissioner Dantawaye reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to protecting lives and ensuring that all religious and social activities across the FCT can proceed in an atmosphere of complete peace and security.
