Adamawa Police Expose Viral Social Media Hoax

The Adamawa State Police Command has strongly dismissed as completely false and deliberately inciting a viral social media post that claimed Fulani terrorists beheaded the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). Police authorities described the fabricated report as the malicious handiwork of individuals seeking to create panic, tension, and religious discord within the state.

The fake news, allegedly published by a Facebook user identified as Lionman Lioni, spread rapidly across various social media platforms, causing significant concern and anxiety among residents. However, in an official statement released to the public, the police command categorically refuted these claims, confirming that no such incident had occurred anywhere in Adamawa State.

Police Commissioner Issues Strong Warning

Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris urgently appealed to the public to completely disregard the fake news and always verify information from credible, official sources before sharing it online. He revealed that the command has launched a comprehensive investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible for creating and spreading the false report.

The police reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all residents across Adamawa State, emphasizing that such malicious fabrications would not be tolerated.

Elderly Man Arrested for Wife's Murder

In a separate but equally disturbing development, the police command reported the arrest of a 71-year-old man, Jeriel Clifford Peter, for allegedly killing his 67-year-old wife, Miltha Jeriel, following a domestic dispute. The tragic incident occurred on November 6, 2025, after an argument between the couple that began at a beer parlour in the Demsa Local Government Council area.

According to police reports, the disagreement escalated violently when the suspect attacked his wife with both a knife and an axe, inflicting multiple severe injuries on her body.

Police operatives from the Demsa Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, were immediately deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead while receiving emergency treatment. Her body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy procedures.

The police confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody, and the weapons used in the brutal attack have been recovered as evidence. Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris described the incident as profoundly unfortunate and ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola to conduct a thorough, urgent investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.

Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim in Girei Operation

In more positive news, the command successfully rescued a kidnapped man, Abdullahi Usman, following a swift response to a distress call in the Girei area of the state. In a statement released on Thursday, November 6, 2025, the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, detailed that the rescue operation commenced after a resident, Adamu Shugaba, reported hearing suspicious groaning sounds coming from an uncompleted building in Jabbore, Viniklang.

CP Morris used these incidents to strongly condemn all forms of domestic violence and urged the public to always seek peaceful means of resolving disputes. He reassured residents that the Command remains fully committed to ensuring justice prevails and that no offender will escape lawful punishment for their crimes.
