Flight operations of Air Peace have been grounded across the country after members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) placed its terminals under lock and key. The disruption began early morning, affecting all airports nationwide, with the most significant impact at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
Protest Disrupts Early Morning Departures
Union members working with the airline initiated a protest that led to the shutdown of Air Peace terminals. Consequently, an Air Peace flight scheduled to depart Lagos at 6:30 a.m. could not take off, with similar disruptions reported across all airports nationwide. Passengers at the Lagos airport were left stranded, facing delays and uncertainty.
The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Mr. Michael Achimugu, confirmed the development. “Yes, it is a union thing. When I get to the airport, I will be able to get more factual details of the situation,” he said.
Passengers Share Ordeal on Social Media
An X user, known as YoufoundAlex, shared his experience on social media: “I have a 9:00 a.m. appointment in Abuja today, but unfortunately, I am currently stranded at the Lagos airport due to an ongoing protest by Air Peace workers, which has resulted in the shutdown of the airport and disruption of flights,” he wrote.
The development left passengers in Lagos stranded due to flight delays. Management of Air Peace has yet to speak on the incident as of the time of filing this report, and it remains unconfirmed whether the protest has affected the operations of other airlines.

The NCAA has acknowledged the situation but has not provided further details. Air Peace management has not issued an official statement, and the full scope of the disruption, including the number of flights affected and the duration of the protest, remains unclear.
