Lagos Police Commissioner Announces Dismissal of Four Officers Over Fatal Shooting of Seven Traders
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has officially confirmed the dismissal of four police officers for their alleged involvement in the tragic killing of seven traders at Owode-Onirin. This announcement was made during a press briefing at the Police Officers’ Mess in Ikeja on Thursday, March 5, 2026, underscoring the police force's commitment to accountability and justice.
Details of the Incident and Ongoing Investigation
The fatal incident occurred in August 2025 during a violent clash between land grabbers and traders in the Owode-Onirin area of Lagos State. CP Jimoh revealed that the dismissed officers were brought from Nasarawa State by the principal suspect, identified as 'Ariori', and were directly implicated in the unlawful killings. He emphasized that an investigation into the Owode-Onirin killings is still ongoing, with 98 per cent of the investigative work already completed.
Jimoh assured the public that justice will be served, citing that ballistic and autopsy reports are guiding the prosecution process. He stated, "This matter has not been swept under the carpet, and we want the public and all the families of the victims to know that nobody can stop us from ensuring that justice is done. We will leave no stone unturned and will not be intimidated by anyone. All suspects will be prosecuted, and the courts remain open to hear every case."
