IGP Disu Distributes N2.4 Billion to Families of 1,070 Fallen Police Officers
Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu has issued cheques totaling N2,435,421,584.11 to the families of 1,070 officers who lost their lives while serving the nation. The significant disbursement was made under the Group Life Assurance and the IGP Family Welfare Schemes during a ceremony at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
Comprehensive Coverage Across Multiple Years
The substantial financial support covers policy years spanning from 2018/2019 through 2025/2026, specifically addressing the periods of 2018/2019, 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023, 2024/2025, and 2025/2026. Notably, this payment includes recoveries from insurance obligations that had remained outstanding for several years, bringing long-awaited relief to affected families.
In his address to the 1,075 beneficiaries and next-of-kin present, IGP Disu emphasized that this ceremony marked his first such presentation since assuming office as the 23rd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police. He described the event as both an honor and a solemn duty to recognize the ultimate sacrifices made by police personnel.

"The welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force remains one of the central pillars of my administration," declared IGP Disu.
