Lagos Seals Pinnock Beach Estate Over Sewage Dumping

The Lagos State Government has sealed Pinnock Beach Estate in Osapa London, Lekki, along with three other properties across the state for allegedly discharging untreated sewage into public drains and canals.

The enforcement operation, conducted on Thursday by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), followed repeated warnings and abatement notices issued to the affected facilities.

Pinnock Beach Estate was shut down for pumping untreated sewage into a nearby canal, causing environmental pollution, offensive odors, and threats to public health and aquatic life.

LSWMO also sealed a property at No. 28 Amodu Street, Itire, Surulere, after residents complained about continuous discharge of raw sewage into neighboring compounds and public drainage channels. The agency described this as a serious environmental and health hazard that could expose residents to disease outbreaks and unsanitary conditions.

In Ajah, a property on Oladipo Dumoye Street within Mashy Hill Estate, Ado Road, Eti-Osa, was sealed for discharging untreated wastewater into public drains, leading to environmental nuisance, drainage blockage, and pollution.

Similarly, Vintage Heights Estate on Ojulari Street, Elegushi, Lekki, was shut down for pumping untreated sewage into drainage systems and indiscriminate discharge of raw sewage into the environment.

The Lagos State Government warned residents, estate managers, and property owners to comply strictly with approved wastewater disposal regulations, stressing that violators of environmental laws would face sanctions and possible prosecution.

The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining environmental safety and protecting public health through strict enforcement of sanitation and wastewater management laws across the state.
