A Nigerian man has come forward with a disturbing account of an encounter with officers of the Nigeria Police Force, alleging that his phone was confiscated and invasive searched at a police station. According to the man, the incident began when he was stopped at a checkpoint while driving to a bank to withdraw money for food, shortly after his wife had given birth.
Checkpoint Stop Leads to Alleged Phone Seizure
The man stated that officers questioned him about his vehicle documents and became suspicious that he was recording them. He claimed that they then took him to their office, where his phone was taken from him. While the device was in the possession of a police officer, it was allegedly searched, and private videos of his wife during labor and childbirth were discovered.
The man expressed shock that the officer reportedly watched the footage, which showed his wife in a vulnerable and private state. He asserted that the videos were personal and never intended for public viewing, let alone by law enforcement personnel.
Demands for Money and Resolution
The man further alleged that during the encounter, the officers demanded payment for fuel. He explained that he did not have cash on him because he was on his way to the bank. After some time, the situation was resolved, and his documents were returned to him. The man did not specify whether any further action was taken or if he filed a complaint.
