The Ogun State Police Command witnessed a significant ceremony on Monday as Commissioner of Police CP Lanre Ogunlowo decorated newly promoted officers with their updated ranks at the Police Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
Ceremony Highlights Commitment to Professionalism
During the decoration ceremony, CP Ogunlowo delivered a powerful charge to the newly elevated officers, emphasizing the importance of maintaining integrity and fairness in their duties toward the people of Ogun State. The police commissioner stressed that their promotion represents a call to higher responsibility rather than merely a career advancement.
The event, which took place on November 10, 2025, saw nine officers receiving promotions to various ranks. The Commissioner's remarks were officially communicated through a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, based in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Promoted Officers and Their New Ranks
The promotion list featured officers moving to several key positions within the police hierarchy. Those elevated to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police included Stephen Dapo Ojekunle, Emmanuel T. Falade, Tinuola Juliet Balogun, Gbadamosi Kazeem Babatunde, and Temitope Fapounda.
Among the nine promoted personnel, Ajayi Moses and Okhuegbe Philip received promotions to Superintendent of Police (SPs). Meanwhile, Oyebola Oluwatoyin, Alice Adebo, and Ajayi Abimbola - who serves as Secretary to the Commissioner of Police - were promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASPs).
Recognition of Diligence and Hard Work
CP Ogunlowo extended his congratulations to the newly promoted officers, acknowledging that their advancement wouldn't have been possible without the approval of Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun. The Commissioner highlighted that the promotions resulted from the officers' demonstrated diligence, hard work, and selfless service to the nation.
"I therefore urge you to see your new ranks as a call to higher responsibility," Ogunlowo stated during the ceremony. "You must justify the confidence reposed in you by demonstrating excellence, integrity, and fairness in the discharge of your duties to make Ogun State and indeed Nigeria safe for all."
The police chief emphasized that the elevation of these officers should serve as motivation for others within the force to remain diligent, disciplined, and professionally upright in their service.
CP Ogunlowo specifically tasked the promoted officers to maintain dedication and discharge their responsibilities professionally in their new positions, reinforcing the importance of their role in ensuring public safety and security throughout Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.
