Gombe Police Deny ECWA Church Attack Rumors, Vow to Investigate Source
Police Debunk False Church Attack Report in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has issued a strong denial regarding circulating reports about an alleged attack on ECWA Church in Kashere, describing the claims as completely unfounded and potentially disruptive to public peace.

Police Swift Response to Social Media Claims

In an official statement released on Sunday, November 23, through the X social media platform, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Buhari Abdullahi revealed that the Command took immediate action to verify the alarming reports that had spread across social media channels.

Senior police officers were promptly deployed to investigate the situation on the ground, with the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Pindiga and the Officer in Charge of Kashere Outstation making direct contact with church leadership.

Church Elder Confirms No Incident Occurred

According to the police statement, one of the church elders who was present during the second segment of the Hausa service confirmed that no security incident took place at the worship center. The elder further acknowledged that police officers had been stationed at the church throughout the day as part of routine security coverage.

The police presence at the church was part of normal security arrangements and not in response to any specific threat or incident, contrary to what the false reports might have suggested.

Police Condemn Misinformation Spread

The Police Command expressed serious concern about the circulation of the false report, emphasizing that such irresponsible information dissemination could trigger unnecessary panic among residents.

DSP Abdullahi stated clearly: "The circulation of this false information is irresponsible. We will thoroughly investigate the source of the misinformation and take appropriate action."

The Command has vowed to trace the origin of the misleading report and ensure that those responsible for spreading false information face legal consequences.

Public Urged to Maintain Calm

In their statement, the police authorities called on Gombe State residents to completely disregard the false report and continue with their normal activities without fear.

"We reassure the good people of Gombe State that their safety and security remain our utmost priority," Abdullahi affirmed. "The Command is fully committed to ensuring peace and protecting all residents across the state."

The police emphasized their continued dedication to maintaining security in worship centers and other public spaces across Gombe State, urging the public to always verify information through official channels before sharing.
