The Rivers State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of two police officers who were attacked during a stop-and-search operation in the Aluu Division area on June 29. The tragic incident also led to the theft of the officers' service AK-47 rifles.
Commissioner's Directive and Swift Action
Following the attack, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, immediately visited the division and ordered the deployment of all operational and intelligence assets to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators and the recovery of the stolen firearms. Acting on this directive, operatives of the Command's Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) launched a sustained tactical operation using credible intelligence.
Arrests and Recovered Weapons
The operation led to the arrest of three gang members: Maduabuchi Emeka (male), alias “Doctor,” 34, from Egbata Community, Omoku LGA; Chinedu Owhor (male), 42, from Akabuka, Omoku LGA, residing in Aluu Community; and Kamachi Joe (male), 28, from Egbata Community, Omoku LGA. Items recovered from the suspects include three AK-47 rifles and one scorpion rifle.
Confirmation and Ongoing Investigation
Confirming the arrests to newsmen, the command's spokesperson, ASP Blessing Agabe, stated that the suspects have also linked other murder cases currently under investigation. She noted that intensive efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fourth member of the gang, who is currently at large.
