Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed a prominent businessman, Elder J.J. Agbo, and abducted his two children in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The attack occurred on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at his residence in Ung/Zenge community, Gwantu.
Details of the Attack
Agbo was shot dead at his home. Two other residents of the community were also killed during the same attack. The assailants then kidnapped Agbo's two children, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
Previous Attacks in the LGA
According to a resident, the wave of violence began earlier in the week. On Monday, July 27, 2026, one Mr. Titus Haruna and his female tenant were kidnapped in Richu-Randa community. The following day, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Mr. Polycarp Isuwa of Ung. Waziri (Akungbo) village was shot in the stomach while trying to resist abduction. Isuwa survived for a few hours, gave an account of the incident, and later died on Wednesday, July 29.
The coordinated attacks have left the community in fear. In total, four persons have been confirmed killed: Elder J.J. Agbo, two unnamed residents, and Polycarp Isuwa. At least four individuals remain missing: Agbo's two children, Titus Haruna, and his female tenant.
Security Situation in Kaduna
Kaduna State has experienced a surge in banditry and kidnapping for ransom in recent years. Despite security operations, remote communities like those in Sanga LGA remain vulnerable. The state government has condemned the attacks and called for increased vigilance, but no arrests have been reported yet.
