The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has categorically denied circulating reports alleging an invasion of Gwagwalada Area Council by marauding Fulani herdsmen. The police acknowledged being aware of the reports, which specifically claimed an influx into Anguwan Dobi, suggesting an imminent security threat within the area.
Police Response and Investigation
Upon noticing the circulating videos and reports, the police immediately deployed operatives to the location and adjoining communities to assess the situation and ascertain the facts. The force stated that its investigations revealed no unusual gatherings, suspicious movements, or persons matching the claims in the reports within the said area or its surrounding environment at the time of investigation.
Statement from Police Spokesperson
The command, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, assured residents that it is closely monitoring developments within the area while investigations are ongoing to fully ascertain the facts surrounding the matter. Residents are advised to remain calm and go about their lawful businesses without fear or apprehension.
The command further reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property. It also enjoined members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons, movements, or activities to the nearest police station or through the FCT Police Command.
