According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the explosions occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. in three distinct locations across the town. The first incident was reported along Igbei Road. A second blast followed at the Igbo Shade area, situated near an AP filling station. The third explosion happened along the busy Auchi–Okene Road, close to Winners Junction.
Initial information suggests the catastrophic event was triggered by a fuel tanker accident. Properties worth millions of naira, including various buildings and shops, were destroyed across the three affected zones. At the time of reporting, it remained unconfirmed whether there were any casualties from the devastating blasts.

A credible source from the Divisional Police Station in Auchi provided a sequence of events. The source indicated that a fuel tanker had fallen, spilling its contents. Residents reportedly scrambled to scoop the spilled petrol, which then flowed into drainage tunnels. This petrol later ignited, causing explosions at different points.
However, an eyewitness account, given on condition of anonymity, paints a potentially more sinister picture. The witness claimed the explosions occurred nearly simultaneously in different parts of Auchi. This timing led to suspicions that the blasts might have been coordinated.
